Sponging – Using a damp sponge dab a mixture of paint onto your wall to create an irregular pattern. 

Tip – To achieve a subtle effect use the same color as the wall base.

Faux Marble – The process of layering tinted glazes over a base coat to achieve the look of marble. Great as a feature wall or to define certain additions such as a fireplace or countertops. 

Tip – Use a small artists brush and paint the veins in all different directions. 

Faux Granite – To achieve the most realistic look of granite, use a glaze mixture and combine sponging and speckling techniques. Works well as a feature wall. 

Whitewashing – A popular technique that provides a brushed chalk appearance and aged look. Mix light color paints in a flat finish with water to achieve the effect. Apply with a paint brush and finish with a latex coat to protect. 

Stenciling – One of the most commonly used cosmetic painting techniques. Purchase a stencil from any hardware or home decor store and place on your wall. Paint over the stencil and once dry remove and admire your new walls. 

Wood Graining – Apply a base coat of premium interior paint. When dry add a thin layer of glaze and use a wood grain rocker to create the effect within the glaze. 

Tip – In addition to walls, looks great on doors, trims, kitchen cupboards, furniture, etc. 

Antique – One of the most popular painting techniques which provides a distressed look. Apply a base coat and once dry a glaze mixture. When slightly dry begin to wipe away with a damp cloth to desired effect. 

Tip – Lighter, neutral colors work best. Additionally use newspaper, plastic wrap or a cheesecloth to wipe away and achieve the look.
